Good evening all! Tonight I want to share how easy it is to make your own Limoncello. This deliciousness originates from the South of Italy, precisely in the region of Campania where the wonderful climate and sunshine allow for the growth of juicy, yummy lemons. I am lucky enough to have received some lemons of the region from my boyfriend’s family, who grow them there and so what better occasion than this to attempt making my own liquor?
Buonasera a tutti!
INGREDIENTS/INGREDIENTI/INGREDIENTES
8 non-treated lemons – limoni non trattati – limones no procesado
1 L – Pure alcohol – alcol puro – alcohol puro
800 g – Sugar – zucchero – azùcar
2 L water – acqua – agua
Peel the lemons, careful not to peel the white part as it will make your limoncello sour.
Place the peels in a container together with the alcohol and let it rest in the dark for 10-14 days.
When the resting period is over, filter the liquor into a recipient. In a boiling pan pour the water and bring to the boil, add the sugar and let it melt. Then let it cool. Once cooled pour together the liquor and the water+sugar and mix well, finally pour into a bottle and let it rest in the fridge a few days before serving.
N.B There are two pans in the photo because I decided to make the cream as well, so I divided the quantities into two and for the cream I simply used milk instead of water. Same process.
Mismo procedimiento.
Oooooooo…. I love Limoncello and always carry a bottle or two back from Europe. Now I can make my own!
Yea, it’s a lot easier than one might think! And with just a bunch of lemons you get a couple of bottles to last you a while 😉
