Millionaire short cake – Torta del milionario

In this world, there are very few people who don’t love chocolate. I am obviously not one of those few! I first tasted this recipe in Scotland, the Millionaire Shortbread, and absolutely fell in love with it. I mean, biscuits, caramel and chocolate… what’s not to like? Additionaly it is also very easy to make, so when you feel like indulging in something sweet but don’t have lots of time to prepare it, this deliciousness is what you’re looking for!

250g Digestives – Biscotti Digestives

100g melted butter – burro fuso

55g butter – burro

150g cane sugar – zucchero di canna

400g condensed milk – latte condensato

200g dark chocolate – cioccolata fondente

Crush the biscuits and mix with the melted butter. Place on a tin and press well. Then place in the fridge to set for at least 20mins. Heat the sugar and remaining butter in a pan until melted then add the condensed milk and bring to a boil, stirring continuously, until thickened. Pour onto the biscuits base and chill until it sets.

Melt the chocolate and pour it onto the base. Let it cool and then enjoy!

Sciogliete la cioccolata e spalmatela sulla base. Lasciate raffreddare e… godetevelo!

Such a simple recipe. I thought it would be long and complicated. Looks very very inviting. 🙂

Yea, it’s fantastic! The longest part is waiting for it to chill in the fridge and set! 😀

Looks yummy! I’ve made something similar with puffed rice, melded by caramel and topped with a melted chocolate-butterscotch sauce. Love the Italian/English translation to work on food and mind at the same time! 🙂

Thank you! It takes a littl more time writing in both languages, as you have to double everything… but it’s worth the effort 😉 Keeps the mind working!
Oh, wow, that sounds amazing!! I love the combination of chocolate and puffed rice (then again I love anything with chocolate), so your recipe sounds perfect to me!

One of my favourites, but I haven’t tried it yet…I think it’s because I know I would eat it all….this looks amazing! Might give it a go, thank you.

haha, yes that is one of the struggles one has to go through when making it… it takes a lot of will not to eat it all! ;D Let me know if you try it!
