Chai Latte

If you know me well, then you know that I am obsessed with spices. I love them. I adore discovering spices I’ve never heard of before and learning about all their incredible uses. It upsets me that here in Italy spices are underrated. It’s understandable because our meditterenean cuisine focuses on the most common spices found here, such has rosemary, basil, sage etc. So because I enjoy using spices and where I live there is no place that knows what a Chai Latte is, I decided to make it myself, from the chai powder to the latte. It’s definitely one of my favourite drinks!

Se mi conoscete bene, sapete che sono ossessionata dalle spezie. Le amo. Adoro scoprirne di nuove, mai sentite prima ed imparare tutte le loro caratteristiche ed il loro utilizzo. Mi dispiace che in Italia le spezie siano sottovalutate. E’ comprensibile dato che la nostra dieta mediterranea si concentra sulle spezie più comuni del nostro paese, come per esempio il rosmarino, il basilico, la salvia etc. Perciò dato che mi diverto moltissimo ad utilizzare le spezie e dove vivo nessuno conosce il Chai Latte, ho deciso di prepararmelo da sola a partire dalla spezia del chai al latte finale. E’ sicuramente una delle mie bevande preferite!

INGREDIENTS/INGREDIENTI for the powder mix – per la spezia

1tsp pepper powder – 1 cucchiaino pepe nero

1tsp ginger powder – 1 cucc. zenzero

3/4tsp cardamom – 3/4 cucc. cardamomo

3/4tsp cinnamon – 3/4 cucc. cannella

1/4tsp clove powder – 1/4 cucc. chiodi di garofano

Mix all the spices together to obtain the blend and store in small jar.

Mescolate tutte le spezie assieme fino ad ottenere un mix omogeneo e conservate in un piccolo vasetto.

INGREDIENTS/INGREDIENTI CHAI LATTE

350ml water – acqua

350ml milk – latte

4/5tsp brown sugar – 4/5 cucc. zucchero di canna

Tea bag – Bustina del té

Put the water, milk, chai mix and sugar in a pot. Stir and bring to the boil. Once boiling add the tea bag, cover it and let it sit for a few minutes turning the fire off. Then strain and serve hot!

Mettete l’acqua, il latte, la spezia chai e lo zucchero in un pentolino. Mescolate e portate ad ebollizione. Una volta che bolle, aggiungete la bustina di té, coprite e lasciate riposare qualche minuto a fuoco spento. Filtrate e servite caldo!
